More than just paperwork pushers - we're the folks who actually get what you're trying to build
Started in a cramped office with nothing but ambition and a used espresso machine. Sarah had just left BigLaw, tired of billing clients for stuff that didn't actually help them. The plan? Do corporate law differently - like, actually care about the business side of things.
Brought Marcus on board after working opposite sides on a merger that almost fell apart. Turned out we both hated how traditional firms made everything so... complicated. Added our first associate and moved to an actual building with windows.
By now we'd figured out what made us different - we weren't just drafting contracts, we were helping clients think through their actual business strategy. Started getting referrals from clients who appreciated not getting invoices for every two-minute email.
Moved to Bay Street (yeah, we made it to the fancy address). Added IP protection and employment law 'cause our clients kept asking for help in those areas. Built out the team to 12 people who all get what we're about.
Like everyone else, we went remote. Unlike everyone else, we actually liked it? Kept the office but made things flexible. Helped a ton of clients restructure and survive - probably the most meaningful work we've done.
Still doing things our way. We've handled hundreds of transactions, prevented countless legal headaches, and built relationships that go way beyond billable hours. The espresso machine's been upgraded though.
Founding Partner
Spent seven years at a big downtown firm before realizing she hated the whole "bill everything, care about nothing" culture. Got her start in M&A and found she was better at understanding what clients actually needed than what they said they needed. When she's not working, she's probably trail running or arguing about the Raptors.

Came from in-house counsel at a tech company, so he knows what it's like to be on the receiving end of legal bills that make you wince. Specializes in making complex stuff understandable - like, actually understandable, not lawyer-understandable. Has an unhealthy obsession with contract efficiency and craft beer.
No legal jargon unless it's actually necessary. If your teenager can't understand the advice, we're doing it wrong. You're paying for clarity, not confusion.
The law's just a tool - your business goals are what matter. We've seen too many deals die because lawyers forgot that. Won't happen here.
We're not looking for one-off transactions. We want to be the firm you call when something weird happens at 8pm on a Friday. And yeah, we'll actually answer.
Fixed fees when possible. Transparent invoices always. No charging you to read our own emails. Revolutionary concept, apparently.
Everyone here knows their stuff - but more importantly, they're not jerks about it
